Have you ever wished you could make your imagination reality? Because Yesenia can. Anything she puts her mind to, she can create. In theory, anyway.
Sure, it's been more of a curse than a gift for the majority of her adult life, but maybe things are turning around. While, yes, she's still doing a generic office job writing pointless ads, at least she's no longer the weirdest person in the room. Those years of pretending her magic wasn't real are behind her. It's time to make the most of... whatever this is.
Freshly divorced, Yesenia knows she deserves this fresh start.

background
Once upon a time, there was a sad little girl who lived in the middle of nowhere. Her mommy and daddy were successful selling identical houses in identical neighborhoods, miles away from any business that wasn't part of a major national chain. The McMansion that Yesenia grew up in felt like a palace, and she was a bored princess in the tower.
She didn't even have friends at school, but that was alright, because she already had a friend. He was a tough but sweet cowboy wearing the fanciest cowboy outfits, and whenever she was bored or sad, he'd show up and they'd go on adventures. She named him Budweiser, or Buddy, after her dad's favorite drink. During these adventures, the little girl got everything she wanted all the time. And soon, she got everything she wanted in the real world too. Yesenia didn't understand it at the time, but she had the ability to manifest her imagination into reality. Any toys she wanted, dresses, candies, and... Buddy, of course. She believed in him so intensely that he became real. His own thinking person.
Her parents weren't around enough to notice when their daughter showed up in clothes they didn't buy for her, or toys they didn't recognize from any commercials. In secret she would mold her bedroom into fantastical settings for her and Buddy, and they'd act out dramatic stories. She'd write them down, much to the delight of her teachers. They told her she had a future as an author, and Yesenia fantasized about the books and movies she'd write one day.
Yesenia's not sure when she stopped believing. Probably as puberty and insecurity set in. Those elaborate fantasies were probably just that: fantasies. Buddy was just an imaginary friend, after all, and she couldn't carry that with her to college. Her parents always told her she had an overactive imagination, after all. So time passed and she grew up. She met a man, and he was good enough. It was hard to focus on her novels when there were bills to pay, so slowly she stopped working on them. Eventually she stopped working on her marriage, too, and they divorced.
That was five years ago, and Yesenia gave up. She had a dull job in marketing that she mostly sleepwalked through, and her entire social life turned online. Finally, friends. Real ones. It was hard to fill the cowboy-shaped hole in her heart, but this was close. This new spark heralded some unwelcome accidents, though. One time she had an intense dream about eating a pomegranate, and woke up to find her apartment filled with hundreds of them. Suddenly those childhood memories seemed less crazy than she thought.
When the Adventure Society sent her a letter, she was skeptical, but Yesenia loves a good story. How could she ignore it? Seeing Buddy again was a plot twist she hadn't anticipated.
